Building Renovation Updates

Updates for 2009-10:
A new roof was installed on the north annex.

Insulation of the roof and other parts of the interior is in process.

A new overhead door was installed.

Concrete floors were poured around roof drain trenches and in the boiler room.

Most of the interior demolition is finished, thanks to extensive volunteer work that involved manual labor and the use of substantial heavy equipment. We have completed work with our architect and engineer services. We have received all environmental approvals and are moving forward with our Master site plan.

The barn that will house the Tractors of Yesteryear collection has been repainted and renovation of the interior is underway.

We received $212,000 from the NYS Power Authority for energy conservation projects that will cover windows, doors, and heating systems, primarily for the Brockway Museum. We have secured an additional local donation that will install the HVAC system in the North Annex, primarily for the Homeville Museum.

We have completed new bathrooms in the main building and new tile was laid in the upstairs bathrooms. Structural support for second floor is complete.

Electrical wiring is in process.

This 2007 photo shows the interior of the Brockway Museum as the walls, ceiling and floors were stripped away. This shell is the foundation of a museum with new systems and interior layouts. There will be public rooms, private rooms, offices, and displays.

This photo shows the upper and lower levels of the Brockway museum. The upper level will house an auditorium with theatre seating suitable for presentations, performances, and community discussions. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media equipment for audio and visual display. The lower level will showcase a variety of Brockway trucks, other Brockway vehicles such as carriages, and displays presenting Brockway's history in Cortland County and beyond.
