It is with great enthusiasm and community spirit that we've launched Phase I of the Homer-Cortland Community Agency's capital campaign for the Central New York Living History Center. It's more than a campaign. It's an invitation to you to take part in one of the most exciting community developments the Central New York area has ever seen.
Our goal for Phase I is to raise $2.5 million to complete building renovations needed to allow the Central New York Living History Center to open its doors to the public on a regular basis. Renovations are concentrated on the Center's three main buildings: the north annex that will house the Homeville Museum, the main building that will house the Brockway Museum, and the barn that houses Tractors of Yesteryear.
Future construction will include a new wing for an antique fire truck collection, additional structures for community use, and further development of the grounds for public events. We envision raising $5 million over the next few years from all sources.
This is a challenge worth accepting and completing for the betterment of the Central New York economy, the preservation of our history and culture, and the maintenance of a strong and vibrant community.
